PITTSBURGH, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Amachi Pittsburgh, an organization dedicated to helping the children of incarcerated parents in Allegheny County change the course of their lives, was selected as a grantee by the Mentoring Children of Prisoners Program (MCP), an initiative of the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB), Administration for Children & Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The award of $150,000 will help Amachi Pittsburgh empower young people to realize their God-given potential through mentoring, even though their home life may be in turmoil because of the incarceration of one parent or both.

Hollis, executive director of Amachi Pittsburgh. The Family and Youth Services Bureau awarded competitive MCP grants to 54 organizations nationwide, ranging from $70,000 to $600,000. FYSB supports local communities by providing funding for organizations that offer services to young people and their families.
