The Bookkeeping Center Announces DISCOVERBOOKKEEPING for Spring 2010
NEW YORK, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Are you unemployed? Need a new skill? Looking for a new career path, but wishing to stay in the same industry? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, The Bookkeeping Center (TBKC), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, may have a solution for you.
As unemployment scales upward, job seekers have become increasingly disparate. And with an applicant pool of highly-qualified individuals vying for a declining number of jobs, the need for individuals to increase their skills and claim a competitive advantage is apparent. However, many of those out of work cannot afford the cost of post-secondary, occupational training programs.
For the unemployed, under-skilled, and transitional workers, DISCOVERBOOKKEEPING is the first step in a new direction. Across industries, careers in bookkeeping include accounts payable, payroll specialist, credit clerk, billing, purchasing, collections, and more. These positions are vital to the financial stability of every organization!
Through a 20-week training program, DISCOVERBOOKKEEPING, TBKC offers instruction in the fundamental tools of bookkeeping and computerized accounting software at little or no cost to eligible adults. Participants are also provided with career development workshops - resume building, interview workshops, and mock interviews - to give them a competitive advantage in today's job market.
Participants work with real world case-studies to manually learn basic components of accounting theory. Once they grasp the fundamentals, laptops are provided during the second half of the term equipped with three accounting software programs: QuickBooks, Peachtree, and Acclivity (formerly MYOB).
TBKC understands that wallets are empty! So, we also offer our participants software, job-placement assistance, and even travel reimbursement to offset the transition of entering this new field. We have designed a low-cost curriculum requiring no textbooks, additional software, or supplementary supplies.
