GAITHERSBURG, Md., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of the HealthWell Foundation, one of America's largest copayment assistance organizations, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary P. Sundeen as the organization's new Executive Director.

Ms. Sundeen has 20 years of experience in management, corporate communications and investor relations within the healthcare and biopharmaceutical industries. Prior to joining the HealthWell Foundation, she served as President and Chief Executive Officer of a Maryland hospice. Ms. Sundeen has also served as Vice President and Corporate Officer for GenVec, Inc. (GNVC) and Senior Director of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations for EntreMed, Inc. (ENMD), as well as Director of Public Affairs for the Dent Neurologic Institute, Millard Fillmore Health System in New York.
Ms. Sundeen has been active in the hospice and oncology arenas for the past 12 years and has served as a spokesperson for several corporations that sponsor clinical trials of investigational cancer therapies, including gene therapy, antiangiogenics, cancer vaccines, and monoclonal antibodies.
Since 2003, the HealthWell Foundation(R) has helped more than 60,000 patients with serious and chronic conditions meet their cost-sharing obligations for treatment. HealthWell is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit association that provides financial assistance to cover the cost of prescription drug coinsurance, co-payments and deductibles, health insurance premiums, and other selected out-of-pocket healthcare costs.
