BOYNTON BEACH, Fla., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Children and Families has awarded a grant of $498,857 to provide training and support services for community and faith-based nonprofit organizations in South Florida. Nonprofits First(R) of Boynton Beach will be managing the grant and the delivery of the training and support services. The ultimate goal of the grant is to support community and faith-based organizations that provide services to the most at risk populations in South Florida.
Nonprofits First, founded in 2005 by a collaboration of public and private funders in Palm Beach County, provides education, leadership development, and management support services to the nonprofit sector. The ultimate result of the programs and services of Nonprofits First is to help nonprofit organizations achieve their highest level of success. The agency's capacity-building focus promotes best practices in organizational management and the highest standards of nonprofit governance and administration.
GoBuild Capacity, the multi-pronged Capacity Building project, will include: training in such areas as leadership, governance, financial management and planning; one-on-one consultation; and direct sub-awards that will enable organizations to strengthen their organizational capacity and ensure sustainability. The assessment, training, and technical assistance programs are focused on four critical capacity building areas: 1) leadership; 2) organizational development; 3) program development; and 4) community engagement. Training opportunities will include workshops as well as distance learning, enhanced by participants' access to Nonprofits First's comprehensive tools and resources.
Eligible organizations will receive an average of 34 hours of in-depth one-on-one assessments and technical assistance services to address specific individualized objectives.
