SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Fleishman-Hillard International Communications, one of the world's leading full-service communications agencies and part of the Omnicom Group Inc. , announced the appointment of David Burk as senior vice president of its West Coast digital practice, with responsibility for creating unique digital offerings for the agency's clients in the region.
Burk, who will be based in San Francisco, is a highly experienced and respected expert in digital marketing, digital communications and social media. His appointment advances FH's "Switched On" strategy, which puts digital and social media at the forefront of the agency's work with clients. It recognizes both the impact of the online "conversation" on client success, and the central role the firm can play in managing that conversation for the client's benefit.
"Adding David to our team demonstrates our high level of commitment to digital as the cornerstone of our agency going forward," said Curt Kundred, Fleishman-Hillard regional president. "There are very few seasoned executives of his caliber anywhere in our industry, and even fewer who combine creativity, deep digital knowledge and solid business acumen. He will be a strong leader and advocate for integrating digital into everything we do for all our clients."
Burk's responsibilities will include creating a hub for development and selection of technology platforms, Web site user experience, design and application development, and lead generation programs using digital and social media. He will also ensure that the growing ranks of digital specialists in FH's West region offices are not only skilled in digital tools and social media, but also have the resources and training to support their efforts.
"The future of the Internet is user-generated, community-based and social. For our clients, these constant online conversations mean their businesses and communications models will completely change over the next 10 years," Burk said. "Public relations agencies are clearly at the focus of these conversations, because only we understand the three fundamentals of social media: content, relationships and influence. We just need the technical firepower to back up these initiatives.
"Fleishman-Hillard's digital capabilities get a real boost from the fact that we are part of Omnicom Group Inc.," Burk noted. "Omnicom's 200-plus family of companies allows us to collaborate with advertising and specialty companies to solve client issues."
Burk has recently launched a blog, InternetQuotient.com, to lead a discussion about the intersection of communications and the digital world.
Burk comes to Fleishman-Hillard after 14 years as co-founder of Clear Ink, a pioneering digital marketing strategy and services agency in Berkeley, Calif. He also holds an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA.
