Thanks Rep. Boyd for Vote to Stop Government Takeover of Student Lending

WASHINGTON, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- ProtectStudentChoice.org today launched a new online video to urge Senators Bill Nelson and George LeMieux to protect more than 1200 Florida jobs that are threatened by a government takeover of the student loan industry.

The video is available online at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zmKEStv-X4.

The video thanks Congressman Allen Boyd and other Democrats who voted no on legislation that would replace private student loan providers with a government-run system.

In a statement to WBBM-TV, Rep. Boyd said, "I am committed to working to protect jobs, particularly during this economic downturn. I believe that our students, colleges, and local communities will be better served by maintaining competition in the student loan industry as the best way to promote innovation and customer service."

Protect Student Choice consists of individuals who have dedicated their careers to helping students finance their college education. The Protect Student Choice initiative will inform the American people and Congress about the costs and consequences of the student loan proposals being debated in Washington. Legislation passed by the House of Representatives last month would result in the loss of 35,000 jobs, end choice and competition in student loans, and impose costly demands on schools and universities.
