CBH Homes maintained its #67 ranking among all home-building companies nationwide on the Builder 100 list, with a total of 833 home sales in 2007. The company also has maintained its position as the No. 1 home builder in Idaho.
CBH Homes' sales in early 2008 show even better performance than 2007, CBH officials said, with 106 home sales in April, compared to 76 the previous year, a 39 percent increase. In March, CBH had 109 sales, compared to 90 in March 2007, a 21 percent increase.
Despite widely reported challenges in the real estate industry, CBH Homes has employed a number of innovative techniques to keep home sales moving along, including selling homes on eBay in August of last year and discounting prices from $30,000 to $70,000 per unit in a single weekend campaign called "Deal of a Lifetime" in October 2007, which resulted in the sales of 100 homes in two days.
"They definitely are very innovative out-of-the-box thinkers in their sales and marketing efforts," said Becky Enrico-Crum, an active member of the Ada County Association of Realtors and the Idaho Association of Realtors. "They stay way out in front of the leading edge of market trends -- they don't just wait for things to happen and try to react when it's often too late."
In August, when an episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition featured a Middleton, Idaho, home built by CBH for the Stockdale family, CBH Homes offered buyers a $15,000 discount on interior and exterior finishing options for the entire month.
CBH also has refreshed its web site, and it has a real estate partnership program called Club Red, which offers many perks to Realtors for selling CBH Homes, such as flat-panel TVs, travel vouchers, fine dining gift certificates, golf vouchers, American Express cash cards and more.
Anticipating that demand among home buyers may be strongest in 2008, CBH has been crafting homes that may suit their budgets, offering products like the Sunset, a single-story 916-square-foot home priced at $112,490, and the Amber, a 900-square-foot model that sells for $98,990.
