  • The wrongful death lawsuit filed by the husband and family of a woman who died during a California radio-station contest that encouraged people to drink large amounts of water without going to the bathroom in hopes of winning a Nintendo Wii video console.

The lawsuit contends that “[t]he negligence of Defendants caused the death of [plaintiff] Jennifer Strange.”

According to the complaint, “a nurse called in to complain on-air that drinking excess water would result in illness and possible death,” and was told by radio station employees: “we’re aware of that…they signed releases so we’re not responsible so it’s okay.”
