IAC reports 3Q profit but ad revenue still slips

NEW YORK (AP) - IAC/InterActiveCorp, which runs Match.com, Ask.com and other Web sites, says asset sales helped it profit in the third quarter while ad revenue continued to slump.

IAC said Tuesday it earned $21.7 million, or 16 cents per share. In the same period a year ago it lost $14.8 million.

IAC's results come after other Internet companies gave mixed signals in their third-quarter reports about the online advertising market. The period was tough for IAC, whose revenue dropped 9 percent.
