Nevada utility panel taking public comment in Reno

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Nevada state utility regulators plan a public meeting in Reno to hear from residents about electric, gas, telephone, railroad and water service in northern Nevada.

The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada meeting is set for 4 p.m. Tuesday.

PUC spokesman Sean Sever says commissioners will make a brief presentation on the effect that energy conservation measures can have on customer bills, why energy costs can be volatile in Nevada, and the overall role of the commission.

Representatives from companies regulated by the commission, including NV Energy and Southwest Gas, are due to attend the meeting.

Sever notes the commission doesn't regulate the Truckee Meadows Water Co.
