Sanofi-Aventis names Spek global operations head

NEW YORK (AP) - French drugmaker Sanofi-Aventis says it is promoting two high-ranking executives and adding a third to its executive committee.

The company is naming Hanspeter Spek as president of global operations. Spek was in charge of the pharmaceutical business.

Research and development leader Marc Cluzel is promoted to executive vice president.

The head of Sanofi's vaccines business, Wayne Pisano, is now on the executive committee, expanding it to nine members.
