Stock futures little changed ahead of opening

By STEPHEN BERNARD AP Business Writer

NEW YORK (AP) - Stock futures are little changed as investors prepare for new reports on home prices and consumer confidence.

Stocks are trying to rebound Tuesday after being pummeled for the second straight session a day earlier.

Overseas markets were mixed.

The Conference Board is expected to report consumer confidence rose slightly in October. The S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index is expected to show house prices continued to decline in August.

Rebounds in consumer spending and housing are considered vital to a recovery.

Dow Jones industrial average futures are up 14, or 0.1 percent, at 9,855. Standard & Poor's 500 index futures are up 1.00, or 0.1 percent, at 1,067.40, while Nasdaq 100 index futures are down 0.75, or less than 0.1 percent, at 1,747.25.
